Florida College of Emergency Physicians Names Cynthia Nash Executive Director

FCEP Welcomes Veteran County Medical Society Leader as New Executive Director

ORLANDO, FLA. -  The Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP) is pleased to announce that Cynthia Nash has accepted the position of Executive Director. Nash has served as the Executive Director of the Orange County Medical Society since 2000 and as the Executive Director of the Lake-Sumter Medical Society since 1999, bringing a wealth of experience to FCEP.

“I appreciate the opportunity afforded me by the Lake-Sumter Medical Society and the Orange County Medical Society to serve as their Executive Director. My experience with county medical society management over the past seven years, especially regarding the legislative process, will serve me well as I approach my new position at FCEP,” said Nash. “At the same time, I am looking forward to learning how to meet the unique challenges presented by a state specialty society that I would not have encountered at the county society level.”

“We're very pleased to have Cynthia join our organization,” said FCEP President David Siegel, MD, JD, FACEP, FACP. “Her experience, knowledge, professionalism and personality will be valuable assets to the Florida College of Emergency Physicians, and she will help us raise awareness of emergency medicine issues in the state of Florida.”

Before taking the position of Executive Director at Lake Sumter Medical Society, Nash was a biology teacher in Texas, at both the high school and community college level. Nash is very involved in the American Association of Medical Society Executives, where she serves as Co-chair of the Council on Leadership. She also serves as President of the Council of Florida Medical Society Executives.

Nash received her bachelor’s degree in biological science in 1977 from Memphis State University, graduating Cum Laude, and received her Masters of Education from the University of South Alabama in 1989. She is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives and serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Society of Association Executives.

The Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP) represents more than 1,100 emergency physicians in the state of Florida. FCEP members represent the health care safety net of Florida’s residents and visitors. More than seven million patients seek care annually in Florida emergency departments. FCEP was founded on Oct. 15, 1971 and is headquartered in Orlando.
