Vidor Friedman, MD, FACEP
ORLANDO, FLA. – Vidor Friedman, MD, FACEP, Chief of Staff at
Florida Hospital, Celebration Health, was selected as the 2007 recipient
of the William T. Haeck Award as the Florida College of Emergency
Physicians (FCEP) Member of the Year. Dr. Friedman is a member of the
FCEP Board of Directors and the Chair of the College’s Governmental
Affairs Committee. The award, formerly known as the FCEP Member of the
Year Award, was renamed in 2006 to honor the first president of FCEP,
Dr. William T. Haeck of West Palm Beach, who served FCEP in 1971-72.
“It’s a great honor to receive the William T. Haeck Award,” said Dr.
Friedman. “Dr. Haeck was a leader in emergency medicine in the state of
Florida during his tenure as president of the Florida College of
Emergency Physicians. That hard work is still going on 36 years later,
as we strive to make Florida a better place for our patients to receive
access to care, as well as a better place for emergency physicians to
practice. It’s an honor to stand alongside the past winners of this
award and to continue the work that Dr. Haeck started back in 1971.”
Dr. Friedman received his medical degree from the University of
Cincinnati and was Chief Resident of the emergency medicine residency
program at Michigan State University in Lansing. Upon completion of
residency in 1989, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Emergency
Medicine at Michigan State. He served as an attending physician at
Ingham Medical Center and was subsequently elected as Assistant Medical
Director in 1992. He is board certified by the American Board of
Emergency Medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency
Physicians, and a longstanding member of the Florida Medical Association
(FMA). He joined the Maitland-based Florida Emergency Physicians (FEP)
group in 1997 and has been the Medical Director of the Emergency
Department at Celebration Health since 1998. Dr. Friedman was the
Past-Chair of Risk Management at FEP. He resides with his wife in
Southwest Orlando.
The Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP)
