As a member of the Florida College of
Emergency Physicians, you have the privilege of casting your

the candidates' statements below and
complete the
ballot. Ballots must be received no later than
Monday, July 27, 2008. Return information is located
on the ballot itself.
This is a chance for FCEP members to choose those who will
shape the course of the College over the next few years.
This year, there are five very qualified candidates vying
for the five open slots on the FCEP Board.
Here are this year’s candidates:
Tony Andrulonis, MD, FACEP
Members of FCEP, I am humbly requesting your vote to be
elected to the Board of Directors.
Currently I am the Chief of the Department of Emergency
Medicine at Baptist Hospital of Miami. My interests include
ED Operations and EM Advocacy. I believe that it is
imperative to have knowledgeable, active board members
collaborating with local, state and federal legislators and
with other healthcare organizations to discover solutions to
the major issues affecting our everyday practice of
Emergency Medicine.
I completed medical school at the University of
Pittsburgh, followed by a four-year EM residency at the
University of Pennsylvania. I then served as a Clinical
Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania Hospital for five years
before relocating to Florida in 2005. From 2005 through 2006
I was an Assistant Medical Director at Memorial Hospital
West. In December of 2006 I accepted my current position at
Baptist Hospital.
Outside of the hospital, I was an active member of
FEMA’s Pennsylvania-Task Force and now Florida-Task Force 2.
I deployed to the 9/11 disaster in NYC and twice following
Hurricane Katrina. I’ve participated in several clinical
trials and have published book chapters, most recently in
Rosen’s 5 Minute Emergency Medicine Consult. In 2008 I was
named one of ACEP’s Heroes of Emergency Medicine. Recently I
was named Co-Medical Director for Baptist’s Chest Pain
Center.
I would be honored to be elected to the FCEP’s Board of
Directors. If elected, I will serve your interests and be
dedicated to making Florida a leader in the practice of EM.
Jay Falk, MD, FACEP, FCCM
I am Clinical Professor of Medicine and Emergency
Medicine, University of Florida College of Medicine;
Professor of Medicine and Emergency Medicine, University of
Central Florida College of Medicine; Chief Academic Medical
Officer, Orlando Regional Healthcare; and Academic Chairman
of the Department of Emergency Medicine at ORMC. In 2001, I
became a board member of the Orlando campus and Clinical
Professor of Clinical Sciences at Florida State’s College of
Medicine.
I am board certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal
Medicine and Critical Care Medicine, and am a fellow of
their respective colleges. I’ve been honored by the Society
of Critical Care Medicine as a recipient of the Shubin-Weil
award, recognizing national role models, as a practitioner
and teacher of ethical emergency and critical care medicine.
During my tenure, the emergency medicine residency program
at ORMC has graduated over 200 residents, many of whom have
remained in Florida and have taken FCEP leadership roles.
I’ve served on the Academic Affairs Committee, and was
instrumental in developing the policy of having residents
serve on the FCEP Board. I’m a longtime member of the
editorial board of Critical Care Medicine and an active peer
reviewer for all the emergency medicine journals. I’m a
practicing emergency physician, as a partner of Emergency
Physicians of Central Florida. I’m also an active
investigator, and have over 85 published articles and book
chapters. In my role as Chief Academic Officer, I oversee
the training of 215 residents and fellows in multiple
specialties, and the practice of a full-time faculty of 90
physicians.
Kelly Gray-Eurom, MD, FACEP (Incumbent)
It is my sincere honor to run for re-election to the
Florida College of Emergency Physicians Board of Directors.
I have truly enjoyed my last three years on the FCEP BOD and
would like the opportunity to continue serving the FCEP
membership in this capacity.
I first became involved with FCEP as a resident member
in 1994. Since that time, I have been active on the FCEP
finance, government affairs and professional development
committees. As a member of the FCEP BOD, I have continued my
committee participation, attended EM Days in Tallahassee,
and took a lead role in revising the FCEP Bylaws.
Nationally, I am active with the American College of
Emergency Physicians and have served in several leadership
roles, including the ACEP Steering, Medical-Legal, and
Membership Committees, and have chaired the Young Physicians
Section and the Section Affairs Task Force. Currently, I
serve as Chair of the Section Task Force and as an councilor
representing Florida.
Professionally, I completed an Emergency Medicine
Residency with the University of Florida/Jacksonville in
1996 and joined the faculty upon graduation. I currently
serve as the Associate Chair, Director of Finance & Medical
Operations for the EM program in Jacksonville. Although I
work in a training institution full time, I am the
administrative director for Emergency Services at Winter
Haven Hospital; thus I have the opportunity to function in
both the academic and private sector environments.
If re-elected, I will continue to devote my energies
toward serving the FCEP BOD, the College and the FCEP
membership.
Tracy Sanson, MD, FACEP
I am Associate Professor at the University of South
Florida, Education Director for their EM Residency and the
College of Medicine’s Undergraduate EM education program,
and Director of TeamHealth’s Professional Emergency Medicine
Liaison Division. I am Director of USF’s Division of Global
Emergency Medical Sciences and Co-Chief Editor of their
Journal of Emergencies, Trauma, and Shock.
I am on ACEP’s Speaker’s Bureau, a member of the 911
network and Editorial Review Board for ACEP News. I’ve been
an Educational Representative on the Continuing Education
Committee since 1992 and currently a member of ACEP’s
Education Committee. I am Chair of the SAEM Faculty
Development Committee and have been co chair of EMLRC’s
Education Committee since 2007. A frequent speaker for
Emergency Medicine programs, I also serve as a core ACEP
faculty member and received the National Emergency Medicine
Faculty Teaching Award in 2006.
My experience spans 18 years in Emergency Medicine
Education, ED management and leadership development. I’ve
held director positions in the U.S. Air Force, University of
South Florida and TeamHealth for the past 15 years. I
trained at the University of Illinois-Chicago for medical
school and my emergency medicine residency. I’ve served on
TeamHealth’s Medical Advisory Board, Patient Safety Office
Division and faculty in their Leadership Courses.
My husband, fellow EM leader and educator Dr. Kelly
O'Keefe, home educates our three daughters, allowing us to
coordinate our educational efforts, both nationally and
internationally, to travel and explore as a family.
Joel Stern, MD, FACEP, FAAEM
I graduated from The Dartmouth/Brown combined Medical
School with an MD in 1991 and completed a three-year EM
Residency at The Medical Center of Delaware in 1994. I
practiced Emergency Medicine in Delaware and Maryland for
seven years, following the completion of my residency, in a
variety of hospital settings.
In 1999 I moved to Florida and have been practicing
Emergency Medicine in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach
Counties for the past 10 years. I am presently the medical
director of the adult emergency department at St Mary’s
Medical Center in West Palm Beach. St Mary’s is a Level 2
Trauma Center with a combined volume of around 55,000
patients per year, which includes adults, pediatrics and
trauma.
I have been an ACEP member for my entire practicing
career, beginning in residency. I am an ACEP Fellow, and
have been an FCEP member since moving here 10 years ago. I
also belong to AMA and FMA. About nine years ago I founded
the Florida State Chapter of AAEM, and served as its first
president. As president of FLAAEM, I worked with FCEP during
EM days in Tallahassee, and on lobbying FMA and the Florida
Legislature regarding the EM board certification/BCEM issue.
I look forward to serving as an FCEP Board member, to
improve the quality of our practice environment, and raise
the bar for the standards of EM care in our community.
